Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Moon Phase Hub (the "Service") respects users' privacy. This notice – under Articles 13 and 14 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) – explains what data the Service processes, for what purposes and on what legal basis, and what rights you have as a data subject.

2. What data we process

The Service processes only the data necessary for basic operation and uses minimal personal data:

  • Location data: We use the browser's geolocation API to display moon phase and moonrise/moonset. Location data is stored only on your device in the location picker and is not sent to external servers. If you do not allow location access, you can enter coordinates manually.
  • Language, analytics and ads: Your chosen language is stored in a browser cookie (language cookie) so you do not have to select it again on your next visit. Google Analytics cookies measure traffic; Google AdSense cookies personalise ads.
  • Cookie settings: Your consent is stored in a cookie (e.g. moonphasehub-consent) so you do not have to decide on every visit.
  • Analytics data: If you accept cookies, Google Analytics (GA) collects anonymised or full data for traffic measurement. If you reject, analytics may still run in anonymised mode (e.g. IP anonymisation).

3. Purpose and legal basis

Data is processed for:

  • operating the Service (location-based moon phase display);
  • remembering language preference (technical necessity);
  • remembering cookie settings (with your consent);
  • measuring traffic via Google Analytics (with your consent or rejection; when rejected, in anonymised form).

Legal bases: performance of contract or pre-contractual steps (providing the service); legitimate interest (technical security, statistics); and your consent (analytics, optional cookies).

4. Cookies

The Service uses the following cookies:

  • Essential cookies: e.g. language – the Service cannot function properly without them.
  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics – traffic measurement. Loaded only with your prior consent; if you reject, we may run them in anonymised form.
  • Advertising cookies: Google AdSense uses its own cookies to display and personalise ads.

You can change cookie settings at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the footer – this reopens the consent bar without reloading the page.

5. Data retention

Location data is not sent to servers, so we do not store it. Language and cookie settings are stored in the browser, typically for one year. Data collected by Google Analytics is handled according to Google's privacy policy.

6. Your rights

Under data protection law and the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access your personal data;
  • rectification, erasure or restriction of processing;
  • object to processing;
  • data portability;
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (e.g. your national DPA).

The Service performs minimal data processing; you can delete cookies in your browser and withdraw consent in cookie settings at any time.
